Once you are signed up as UberEATS bike courier you basically need just 3 things to hit the road and start earning money by biking through the city to deliver food to 'Uber eaters'. Below I will share these ultimate must-have things and you can check if you are ready to go! 😊
Every shift you bike with UberEATS is different! There are so many and positive variables when you hit the road. And the great thing I found when I started, is that it was so easy to be a bike courier and earn with every delivery. You can go online whenever and how long you want, even as 'refreshment' next to your current job. Hopefully I make you enthusiastic as well to become an UberEATS bike courier.
Below I share 3 ultimate must-haves that you need to start making money as UberEATS driver (by bike).
1. A sturdy bike
The first absolute must-have as a bike courier is (of course): a bike! The streets of Toronto aren’t always the best, so make sure your bike is sturdy and can handle bumps and etc.
I really love my new bike that I purchased last year. The brand is “Diadora” (model: Modena) and it rides so light, comfy and fast! That's exactly what you need as bike courier. Eaters want their food fast and you as courier want to deliver quickly without too much hassle and earn as much as you can per hour, right?
I bought my Diadora bike at Sport Chek a few months ago when it was on sale for $300 and the good thing is that when you sign up for their newsletter you’ll get an extra 10% off. Best deal I would say! They have a men’s version too.
UberEATS food delivery in the winter? Make sure you know about the impact of ice/snow/salt on your bike. Otherwise you may get surprised by the bad effects of the winter weather on your bike, so take good care of your bike to avoid excessive damage. MEC, a store that is focused on active outdoor lifestyles (and has a big store in Toronto downtown) wrote this nice blog post about how to get ready for winter biking. For now, I just enjoy Summer & Fall deliveries as much as I can and I hope you do the same! 🙂
2. A Smartphone

Another must-have is a smartphone with a data bundle. Make sure you have LTE service because you really need that to get delivery requests, good navigation and correct & fast trip completion. I have a Pulse plan with Fido, for $65/month and its coverage is quite well in the city.
Next what your phone needs is the Uber Driver app. This app does it all! You’ll get fully access when you’re approved as UberEATS driver/ bike courier. The app doesn't even cost much data at all. See the screenshot here on the right. The app cost me only a little over 100mb for being about 8-9 hours online with UberEATS.
The third and very important thing regarding your phone is a fully charged battery. A full battery allows me about 3 hours of UberEATS activity. Every phone’s battery capacity is different, so make sure you check this yourself. You can also consider to buy a power bank if you really want to make long hours of food delivery (see here a list of some good power banks to consider).
3. An UberEATS delivery bag
The last but not least must-have is the UberEATS isolated bike delivery bag. The bag looks big, but is actually not really heavy. How do you get it? Well, after you are approved as bike courier you can purchase their food delivery bag for $15 (CAD) at one of their offices. Yes, it is a small charge but understandable when you see the quality of the bag and how easy you’ll earn it back.
You have to bring this meal delivery bag into each restaurant when you pick up food. Restaurants have the right to refuse to hand-over food if it does not go into a thermal delivery bag. With UberEATS it's all about reputation of the entire platform, like user-friendly app usage, trustworthy and caring restaurant partners & delivery partners, to have the food quickly and in good shape delivered to eaters' doorstep!

Hit the road as UberEATS bike courier!
Can you check these 3 ultimate must-haves and are you ready to hit the road?
Not signed up yet? You can get a nice sign-up bonus if you use my invite code! And, you also help me out as sort of thank you for writing these blog posts, because I get a bonus as well when you complete your first
10 deliveries! 🙂 (see update below)
Sign up HERE or manually paste this referral code of me in the "invite" field: 3ydj6f and earn guaranteed $150 for your first 30 deliveries (should take you about 6-7 hours).
Make sure you better do it today than tomorrow, because their sign-up process can take a few business days. The earlier you sign-up, the earlier you can jump on your bike and still enjoy the after-summer & fall weather. Good luck!
UPDATE October 2017: Uber has changed the number of trips that need to be completed before you get the referral bonus. They changed it from 10 trips to 30 delivery trips. Still ok and takes about 6-7 hours to complete 30 trips, so it takes a little longer before you receive your bonus 😉
UPDATE December 2017: UberEATS has changed their welcome offer from $50 bonus for 30 trips to a $150 guaranteed income for 30 trips. Which means if you earned for example $110 for your first 30 trips, that UberEATS will top it off to $150.
