I love to bake with apples! Apples give such a sweet, fresh, crispy, mousy, tangy and/ or fruity flavour to baked goods. Do you bake with apples often?
I bake a lot with apples, for example: Dutch apple pie, appelflappen, apple crumble or apple bread. In terms of bread; I baked several banana breads with apple in the past year, but I had never posted a recipe for this bread. Maybe because it was such a regular kind of bread for me to make and not really something special anymore. Still, since I had many people asking for the recipe, I just couldn’t ignore these requests anymore.
Like I wrote; I have made several versions of apple banana bread in my baking history, like a gluten-free, dairy-free or nut-free version. For now I will begin with a post about the whole wheat version including walnuts. This bread was one of our favorites since the nuts gave such a nice bite to the (moist) bread.
This apple banana bread has a high level of fibers (whole wheat flour & apple skin), vitamins, good fats (walnuts) and secondairy protein (yogurt, walnuts, eggs).
